Hello!
I’m Lauren Johnson,
Founder and Director of My Legacy of Music Center. For the last 28 years, Ive dedicated my time to teaching music throughout the Chicago Metropolitan Area. I am an engaged community volunteer, musician, vocalist, and Certified Music Teacher through the Illinois State Board of Education. I have also obtained a Level 3 certification in Kindermusik, a research based Early Childhood Music Education program.
My Legacy of Music Center was developed through a vision that I had as I sat on my basement stairs. Glaring into what was a dark space, I envisioned teaching music programs that I had previously taught in my music classroom.
As an integral part of the South Shore community, My Legacy Music Center maintains cultural rituals through music and storytelling. The Legacy Music Center is for vibrant explorers to actively engage with the community while receiving a unique music education. Music is the instrument we use to communicate our values and to promote healthy forms of self-expression. It is through the celebration of sound that students of the Legacy Music Center learn and create their history.

Mission
Our mission is to enlighten children and adults in our community by using musical activities as an educational and social catalyst to strengthen family bonds and restore unity among neighbors. Through language, literacy, social-emotional, and fine motor skills, The Legacy Music Center will ignite all areas of child development. We aim to use music curriculum to enhance fine-motor skills, cognitive, and social emotional development through rhythm.
